DMAEA-T (Tertiary Type)
Dimethylaminoethyl Acrylate
CAS No : 2439-35-2
Application
Dimethylaminoethylacrylate forms homopolymer and copolymers. Copolymers of Dimethylaminoethylacrylate .
Can be prepared with acrylic acid and its salt, amides and esters, and with methacrylates, acrylonitril, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils, etc.
An important application is the quaternization with methyl-and/or benzyl-chloride to ammonium salts, which are usually copolymerized with acrylamide leading to cationic modified PAMs.
Dimethylaminoethylacrylate is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses, because it ready undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds.

Storage and Handling
In order to prevent Polymerization, Dimethylaminoethylacrylate must always be stored with additional inhibitor. Storing the product under inert atmosphere avoids coloration of the product. The storage temperature must not exceed 25?. Under these conditions, a storage stability of six month can be expected.
Storage tank and pipes should be made stainlesss steel or aluminium.
Although Dimethylaminoethylacrylate does not corrode carbon steel, there of a risk of contamination and coloration due to rust.
Regulation for storage of flammable liquids must be observed. Storage tanks, pumps and pipes must be earthed.
