Scale Mega Cleaner

Scale Mega Cleaners use various chemical agents in order to prevent scale always generated in boilers, heat exchangers, refrigerators and pipe network. But chemical agents not only are unable to prevent generation of scale but also cause environmental problems such as red alga or green alga.

This product is a device which can prevent scale from being generated inside equipment by the roots using Magneto Strictive Power (MSP) and is comprised of a generator and a transducer.

1. Principle of Scale Removal

Any scale attached on the surface of a pipe or a metal piece has clefts. It is due to the difference in the expansion coefficients of metal and scale, and, as temperature in thermal equipment and all equipment change at all times, clefts are always generated in the course of iterating expansion and contraction.

In the process wherein MSP is passed on to water through metal, the cavitation phenomenon mentioned earlier has an influence on removal of scale. The cavitation penetrates through the fine gap invisible to the eye to explode, and the explosive energy shakes off the existing scale in the lump and the power generated by explosion of the cavitation on the surface of the scale pulverizes the scale, which is moved by the flow of water or drops down to the bottom of the equipment.

2. Composition of Scale Mega Cleaner

l Generator

The generator uses a single phase 220 V as the basic power. It generates necessary frequency using purse wave or continuous wave inside the generator, and is designed to enable frequency change in order to match the resonance frequency depending on the instructions and equipment or is equipped with a resonance circuit. It is designed to maintain the function and protect the generator during voltage fluctuation in Korea and in foreign countries.

The range of frequency used differs depending on the type of the transducer and the application, and a frequency between 15 kHz and 100 kHz is used. The parts inside the product excluding some parts are semi-permanent, and the life of some parts may be shortened depending on the use condition.

Magneto Strictive Power (MSP) is generated as continuous wave or pulse wave as required, and is manufactured and installed as an explosion-proof type for a place where there is a risk of explosion such as an oil refinery.

l Transducer

There are types of Magneto Strictive Element (Fe-Co, Fe-Al, Ni material), Piezoelectric Element, and Electro Strictive Element. A Magneto Strictive Transducer is installed for a high temperature or high voltage equipment such as a thermal equipment or where strong power is required, and a Piezoelectric Transducer or an Electro Strictive Transducer is used in a place where low Magneto Strictive Power is required.

Energen Co., Ltd. is using transducers made of Fe-Co material not generalized for the equipment which requires strong Magneto Strictive Power such as boilers, heat exchangers, and CDU heat exchangers of refineries.

The efficiency of Magneto Strictive Power is enhanced by attaching a wave guide for installation of transducer directly on the equipment where scale or slime is generated by way of welding or soldering. As this transducer is also attached for use on a high temperature or high voltage equipment by way of welding or flanging, it can transfer power continuously, and can be used up to 400 ?. It is manufactured and installed as an explosion-proof type for a place where there is a risk of explosion such as an oil refinery.

l When a SMC-700 series product is installed in various devices, a powerful cavitation phenomenon occurs in the fluid, which has an effect of shaking off the scale or slime generated in the past and preventing generation of new scale.

2. Scope of Application

è CDU Heat Exchanger of Refinery

The temperature of the heat exchanger in a heating furnace where a Scale Mega Cleaner is installed shows to be higher than the average by 3 ? or more. And it is analyzed that there is no problem in manufacturing the product even when the pressure used is lowered by -0.12 kg/? in average after installing a Scale Mega Cleaner and that the cleaning work is reduced. This is an effect of saving 200 million won per train every year.

è Boiler

When a Scale Mega Cleaner is installed in an industrial boiler, generation of scale is prevented and 70 % or more of the existing fossilized scale is removed after 2 months. Accordingly, it has an effect of solving the problem of 2 % energy waste when 1 mm scale is fossilized, and of being able to stop use of or greatly reduce the quantity of chemical agent used regularly. It not only brings economic income but also reduces waste discharge caused by use of chemical agents.

è Heat Exchanger

After 60 days of installing a Scale Mega Cleaner, most of the scale generated on the internal plate has been shaken off and no scale has been generated newly.

è Refrigerator

It can prevent scale from being generated on the Condenser.

è Heat Exchanger and Condenser in a Desulfurization Equipment of Power Plant

A large quantity of scale is generated on a heat exchanger in a desulfurization equipment of power plant.

After installing a Scale Mega Cleaner, scale fossilization is slashed and the cleaning cycle is increased from 15 days to 3 months. And, the problem of scale and algae attached on the condenser which is used to condense the steam for the generator turbine caused by the seawater used as the cooling water can be resolved by installing an Energen Scale Mega Cleaner instead of using chlorine.

è Pipe Network of Sewage Disposal Plant

In pipe network of a sewage disposal plant, a large quantity of scale of which the main ingredient is phosphorus is fossilized. As a result of installing Scale Mega Cleaners at the inlet and outlet of the volumetric pump and in the pipe where a large quantity of scale is generated, most of the scale has been shaken off.

è Powder Line

It has an excellent effect in eliminating clogging phenomenon of lithium battery manufacturing process or manufacturing line of toner, cement or flour where powder is mainly used. In the case of a lithium battery manufacturing plant, the production has been increased by 20 % or more after installing a Scale Mega Cleaner.
