Iodantipyrin is a compound of antipyrin and iodchlorine. The drug has antiviral activity against the enterovirus group (Koksaki A13, Koksaki A12, ESNO), vesicular stomatitis, and the herpes simplex type I virus. The compound is an active beta-interferon inducer “late” type (the interferon titer in mice blood serum grows during 24 hours from 8 to 256 IEbo/ml reflecting the Iodantipyrin injection). Iodantipyrin also has a stabilizing effect on biological membranes that prevents a virus breaking into a cell. Simultaneously, it stimulates antibody production and suppresses reproduction of RNA- and DNA-containing viruses in cell culture. Iodantipyrin has both antiviral (suppresses virus reproduction) and immune modulating effects (improve immune functioning).
It is possible to use the drug both in preventive and medical cases. After preventive Iodantipyrin use, high infection resistance appears that remains over weeks. Thus, Iodantipyrin is an effective drug for prevention of epidemics and treatment during the progress of epidemics, and also for suspended viral infection treatment. Iodantipyrin provides effective protection for an organism both from known viruses and their mutations that become dangerous to man, for example, Bird Flu or Swine Flu.
